Play Therapy

Play therapy utilizes a child's natural language of play to help them express their feelings, develop emotional regulation, increase self-esteem and process difficult events.

Play Therapy uses a variety of techniques including sand tray, physical movement, creative play, storytelling and art to help reduce anxiety, improve coping skills, and resolve trauma.

Association for Play Therapy (APT) defines play therapy as "the systematic use of a theoretical model to establish an interpersonal process wherein trained play therapists use the therapeutic powers of play to help clients prevent or resolve psychosocial difficulties and achieve optimal growth and development."

One Accord Counseling strives to maintain an environment that is comfortable for children and their caregivers to promote self-esteem and growth. We encourage family interaction during the therapy process and believe it to be an integral part of healing.
